The Girl In The Dark: A True Horror Story
Balcony Fright
A group of friends are gathered on the balcony chatting. A girl from the dormitory across the street, on the top floor, goes out onto her balcony around one o'clock. She sits down on the ground and starts swaying. Without a telescope or a good zoom camera, it's unclear why she is swaying. The girl continues to sway from side to side, back and forth. Even after an hour, she does not stop swaying. Among the friends, jokes and theories to scare each other are created. While everyone is enjoying themselves, it turns three, and the girl is still swaying. "It’s not yoga, it’s not listening to music, it’s not exercise, it’s not something religious…” their curiosity grows.
Dark Moments
At four o'clock, the balcony door opens. Someone looks at the swaying girl for about ten seconds before going back inside. The lights inside go out. The girl continues to sway in the dim light of the top floor of the dormitory, where all the lights are off. For three whole hours, she sways without breaking her rhythm. One of the friends, trying to amuse the others, walks to the end of the spacious balcony alone and jokingly says, "What the heck are you doing?" Just then, the balcony light goes out. She thinks it’s a prank by her friends. She fearlessly returns. As soon as she does, the light comes back on. None of the friends have moved from their spots. At that moment, things start to get serious. As the girl continues to sway without breaking rhythm, one of the friends starts to cry.
Power Outage
Some who find amusement in the situation go to turn off the fuses to create even more fear. However, before they can even touch the fuses, the electricity goes out. The entire campus loses power, and everything plunges into darkness. At that moment, the fun ends. All the friends huddle together on the balcony, feeling the anxiety in their stomachs in silence. The crying girl cries even harder. The others say among themselves, "If this is a prank, stop it already." Even those who started the prank have frozen in fear because of the power outage. About five minutes later, the power returns, and all eyes turn back to the dormitory balcony. The girl continues to sway, still not breaking her rhythm. There is almost an hour until dawn. Without waiting to see what will happen, everyone, in fear, goes back to their rooms in groups. Everyone falls asleep.
The Next Day
The next morning, when they wake up, they find the balcony empty. The daylight’s removal of fear leads them to joke around again. After daily activities, evening comes, and they gather on the balcony. Personal memories from the previous night are shared, and they laugh. Friends who can't get enough of the fear start making up scenarios about the swaying girl. One of them says, "What if the girl suddenly stands up and points at us?" She continues, "What if she shouts 'I see you' with a noticeable difference in her eyes?" As the girls start to get scared, the boys are still laughing. Then someone says, "What if the girl suddenly approaches us in three moves and ends up right next to us?" causing the girls to let out slight screams. At that moment, the girl reappears on the now-occupied balcony and immediately starts swaying again. The minutes of fear have returned.
Final Sight
Although there is no real danger, everyone inevitably gets tense again due to the previous night’s events. One of them points to the girl and says, "What if she stands up and jumps off the balcony now?" Following this, a horror movie cliché is enough to put everyone back into a state of fear: "What if, after the girl jumps, we rush out of here and go to the dorm, but we don’t see her body on the ground? And then, when we ask the dorm staff about the top floor, they say, ‘A girl committed suicide there five years ago, and since then, we haven’t rented that apartment to anyone; it’s still empty…’” Everyone’s hairs stand on end, and they insist that the night shouldn’t drag on like the previous one. They all scatter to their rooms, and the night ends. However, that night is the last time they see the swaying girl on the balcony. They never see her again.
Weeks Later
Weeks later, one morning when the visibility is better, someone sees the girl on the balcony again. She is sitting with another girl. The girl continues to sway. To get a closer look at the girl, someone uses a camera with zoom capability. She had caused so much speculation and fear with her swaying. The girl, who had been the subject of jokes and fears, is now close enough on the camera screen to show her facial features. She is talking and laughing with her companion, but still swaying. Side to side, back and forth. At that moment, a sense of discomfort fills everyone. They feel uneasy about the girl’s possible condition, and everyone becomes disturbed by the jokes they had made. They’ve now seen the girl up close, but they never learn the reason behind her swaying or the mystery of it. They are left with the fear of those two nights.
